The South Palm Beach SCORE Chapter will receive the National SCORE Chapter of the Year Award and the Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech in Melbourne will receive the WBC Center of Excellence Award next week during the National Small Business Week celebrations in Washington, DC.

National Small Business Week is May 20-26. Each year since 1963, the president has proclaimed the week during which the SBA celebrates both the spirit of the nation’s entrepreneurs and acknowledges the dedication and commitment of their champions to the economic success and prosperity of the United States.

To win the National Chapter of the Year Award, the South Palm Beach SCORE Chapter demonstrated high quality in service delivery to clients ensuring their satisfaction; significant contributions to the small business community; and meaningful compliance and maintenance with the Code of Ethics and Conduct.  The chapter was selected over scores of competitors from across the country.  SCORE offers high-quality counseling and training to aspiring and established small business owners alike in the Boca Raton area.

The Women’s Business Center at Florida Tech demonstrated the ability to exceed performance milestones, exhibited innovation in its small business counseling and training materials, meaningfully championed the causes of women entrepreneurs, developed various partnerships that garnered financial support and helped to promote the WBC program. The WBC provides training, counseling, mentoring and technical assistance targeting women entrepreneurs and women-owned small businesses in Brevard, Indian River, St. Lucie counties and the Central Florida area. SBA Administrator Karen Mills selected the WBC at Florida Tech from a host of centers from around the country based on the recommendation of a panel of judges.

The winners will receive their awards from Mills during the National Small Business Week celebrations.
