mitt_romney_4.jpgTALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Florida Gov. Rick Scott has used a famous quote about the Nazis and the Holocaust to explain his disregard for the current political attack culture. He mentioned the quote to seemingly defend Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney without actually naming him.

Scott was speaking on Thursday at the quarterly board meeting of Enterprise Florida. The group is a public-private partnership that promotes economic development in the state.

The governor said other “candidates (shouldn't) attack people in business.'' He paraphrased a well-known Martin Niemoller saying that is often referred to as the “First They Came For…'' quote.

Scott then mentioned Bain Capital. That is the private equity firm founded by Romney. Scott later explained he used the Niemoller quote to make the point that capitalism should always be defended.
