2012_journey_2_the_mysterious_island_web.jpgDespite the star power of Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds, Safe House is earning lackluster reviews from critics.

The action thriller features Washington as a rogue CIA agent and Reynolds as the rookie tasked with watching him. AP Movie Critic Christy Lemire gave the movie just one and a half stars out of four, saying:

“This is a frenetically paced jumble of shaky-cam tricks and quick edits, dizzying car chases and deafening shootouts.”

Receiving even weaker reviews is The Vow, starring Rachel McAdams as a woman who loses her memory after a serious car accident, and Channing Tatum as her husband, who tries to remind her of the life they shared.

Lemire also gave this one and a half stars, saying: “The Vow serves as a series of precise if obvious moments and emotional cues we must endure en route to the inevitable reconciliation, complete with an intrusively heart-tugging score and too much explanatory voiceover from Tatum.”
