FORT LAUDERDALE — Sanford-Brown Institute of Fort Lauderdale is planning to make it easy for area residents to access dental hygiene services at a free, permanent clinic.

The clinic will be free and open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. It will provide dental cleaning, sealants, X-rays, oral cancer screening and fluoride applications.

The Sanford-Brown Institute will also host a community health and pet fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. also on Feb. 25.

A variety of medical services will be provided by Sanford-Brown medical and veterinary students, including free medical screenings for blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol and HIV testing.

Low-cost mammograms will be offered, courtesy of Memorial Regional Hospital’s Mobile Mammography Van. You must call 954-276-5595 prior to the event to schedule an appointment for the mammogram and meet certain criteria.

BI vet tech students will provide health services for cats and dogs in a Feel Good Clinic, including rabies, DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parvo, parainfluenza), bordatella, and feline DRCP vaccinations for $10 each. They will clean ears and trim nails for $5.

All proceeds from the Feel Good Clinic will benefit the SPCA Wildlife Care Center in Fort Lauderdale and the Shy Wolf Sanctuary in Naples.
