fsu_baseball.jpgTALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) _ Florida State overpowered Texas A&M to set up a decisive third game Monday in the Tallahassee Super Regional.

Stuart Tapley hit two home runs and drove in five runs, Justin Gonzalez had a three-run homer and six RBIs and Florida State routed Texas A&M 23-9 on Sunday.

“It was just surreal,'' Gonzalez said after the Seminoles pounded out 16 hits against five Aggies pitchers. “We fight to live another day.''

The winner Monday will advance to the College World Series. Florida State is trying to get to Omaha for the for the 21st time, while Texas A&M (46-20) is seeking its first CWS appearance since 1999.

“We know that there's nothing settled,'' Florida State coach Mike Martin said. “Tomorrow night is what it's all about. We're excited to be in this position.''

Jayce Boyd hit his third home run in three game games for Florida State (46-18). He finished 4 for 4, drove in three runs and scored five times.

The Seminoles set a season high for runs and a school record for runs in a Super Regional game. FSU scored 14 times in a 2008 victory over Wichita State. Texas A&M allowed its most runs since 1996.

“This was obviously one of those nights that everything went our way,'' Martin said. “Our guys really went after it.''

Florida State scored in every inning but the fifth and ninth to support Scott Sitz (4-2), who picked up the win in relief.

Neither starting pitcher lasted very long. Freshman Derrick Hadley (0-1) started for Texas A&M but pitched just an inning, allowing six earned runs. Florida State's Mike McGee pitched two innings, allowing four earned runs.

Florida State's Mack Waugh earned a save by virtue of pitching three scoreless innings. Brandon Wood had a two-run double, and Tyler Naquin, Matt Juengel and Andrew Collazo each had two hits for Texas A&M.

“If you had told me we would have scored nine runs tonight, I would have felt good about our chances,'' Texas A&M coach Rob Childress said. “Florida State did an outstanding job.
