South Florida Firefighters Weekend Celebration:
Sure you (or a friend) have bought a beef cake calendar before, but when have you ever had the opportunity to meet all the perfectly sculpted models in it? Don’t miss your chance! All of the South Florida firefighters featured in a 2010 calendar will be available for pictures and autographs when they unveil the calendar at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, 1 Seminole Way near Hollywood. The event starts at 7 p.m. at the Center Fountain Area, followed by an official after party, from 10 p.m. to midnight. Roxy Theatre Groups After School Program:
Still looking for a place where your kids can go after school? How about helping your children tap into their inner Denzel Washington or Halle Berry? Enroll them in the Roxy Theatre Group, Kidz on Stage After School Care at 1645 SW 107 Ave. in Miami. The program begins Aug. 24 and is currently accepting applicants. The Kidz on Stage program includes homework assistance, educational activities in literacy, math and science, arts and crafts, and weekly classes in drama, voice and dance. Kids have the opportunity to participate in a holiday show and a year-end musical production. The program is available to children in kindergarten through eighth grade.
