MIAMI — The Miami Dade College men’s baseball team is getting set for NCAA Division 1 World Series May 24-31 in Grand Junction, Colo. The Sharks ended the season 35-15, claiming the Southern Conference Title and qualified for the state tournament.

Head Coach Danny Price, in his fourth year at the college, was named Southern Conference Coach of the Year and seven players made the All-Southern Conference First and Second teams.

Freshman Darren Seferina not only made First Team All-Southern Conference but was also named to the FCSAA First Team All-State.

The team went on to defeat Polk State in the Gulf District championship My 9-14 in Lakeland.

But the World Series will be a big challenge for the Sharks. They won fewer games in the regular season than eight of the other division champions who will appear in the World Series.

Also, a national poll taken May 20 ranked MDC 10th among the nation’s top college baseball teams.

But the Sharks have a strong record this year and began their journey to Grand Junction May 10 against State College of Florida-Manatee, winning 4-3 and then defeated the College of Central Florida.
