MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Florida Memorial University has buttressed its basketball prowess by adding Artis Maddox as the new, Men’s Head basketball Coach and Assistant Athletic Director. “I’m excited about the possibilities at Florida Memorial University. I am very passionate about athletics and look forward to growing great student-athletes not only for the game but in the game of life,” said Maddox on his new position.
At FMU, Maddox will work with the Athletic Director to develop and maintain a system to identify potential recruits, to adhere to NAIA rules and regulations, to support coaches as well as student athletes on interfacing with the sports governing body and to monitor a complaint environment in compliance with NAIA.
Prior to coming to FMU, this Jacksonville native was the Assistant Basketball Coach for Mountain State University Men’s Basketball program for 9-years. Maddox coached and recruited the Cougars to a #1 ranking in the country, to win the NAIA tournament, and to produce 16 All-American players. Maddox obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Mountain State University. He was the team captain of the basketball team and led them to a Sweet Sixteen with a season record of 27 – 6.
