The YMCA of Broward County is hosting a “Back to School Bash” at the L.A. Lee YMCA Family Center, 408 NW 14th Ter., Fort Lauderdale. Those who complete the Treasure Hunt will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies, courtesy of Office Depot, YMCA members and friends of the Y.

Fire Rescue Back-To-School Drive
Heading back to school can be stressful, especially for kids in need. That’s why Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue is hosting a back-to-school drive for students who have been abused or neglected. Donations of school supplies, clothing and sneakers for kids aged 5-17 will be accepted at the city’s fire-rescue stations daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. The drive runs through Aug. 11.Proceeds benefit Kids in Distress, which works with neglected children.
Tenth Annual Cool Gear for the School Year
On Sunday, Aug. 31, the Jason Taylor Foundation will host its Tenth Annual “Cool Gear for the School Year” program at Old Navy, again providing 60 underserved youth from Miami-Dade & Broward Counties a unique Back to School shopping experience for the 2014-2015 school year. Show your spirit by volunteering with the Spirit of Giving Network at the 2014 Putting Kids First: Community Back to School Bash on Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Village Academy, 400 SW 12th Ave., Delray Beach. The annual event, one of six taking place throughout Palm Beach County, provides at-risk children with school supplies. The Spirit of Giving Network, facilitator of the south Palm Beach County bash is seeking volunteers to fill a variety of roles including personal shoppers, hair cutters and store keepers.
