Now in its eleventh year, the Jazz in the Gardens music festival continues to bring top R & B and jazz acts to the city of Miami Gardens for what has become one of the most popular musical festivals in the country. This year’s festival has something for more mature music lovers, the event’s young audience members and fans in between.
Aretha Franklin takes the stage as the headliner on Saturday’s show. After being in the music industry for over 40 years, the Queen of Soul shows no signs of letting up. With new music and a new appearance (thanks to shedding 85 pounds), Franklin’s presence on the musical scene is as eagerly anticipated as ever.
Also taking the stage on Saturday are old school R & B favorites, Kool and the Gang, Average White Band, Michael McDonald and smooth jazz favorites, Najee’s Jazz in the Gardens Allstars with Regina Bell and Alex Bugnon.
Making his first appearance at JIG is music phenom, Usher, who is Sunday’s headliner. Despite his youthful 37 years-old, the R & B powerhouse has been in the business for more than 25 years and continues to deliver soulful, high energy performances.
Kenneth ‘Babyface’ Edmonds, a JIG crowd favorite, makes his return to JIG, sharing the stage on Sunday with Janelle Monae, Brian Culbertson and gospel superstar, Fred Hammond.
