Staff Report
Sometimes a lucky break is the only thing stopping a local talent from hitting the big time. Sometimes the right person is in the room during a performance and one thing leads to another, which leads to a dream coming true.
Ingrid Bazin had that scenario in mind when she began hosting On the B Side
events in Miami years ago. In addition to exposing South Florida’s musically and poetically talented, Ingrid B, as she’s known, has also begun hosting similar events in Atlanta.
On Aug. 9, fans will converge upon the Piano Bar to enjoy a variety of performers during the On the B Side’s live music open mic night. Hosted by singer Cristyle Renae, the night will allow singers, poets, musicians and lyricists to show the audience what they’ve got.
The purpose of The Session, as it is called, is “to allow South Florida’s local singers, poets and musicians to have a place to grow as artists. Our stage is open to amateurs and professionals who have a passion for music, who want to share their gifts and hone their craft,” according to the B side’s website.
DJ Fully Auto will warm the crowd up with “early vibes” music when the doors open at 8 p.m. The show, which can be seen for a $10 cover charge and two drink minimum, is scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. Open mic performers are admitted for free. The Piano Bar’s kitchen closes at 10:30 p.m.
