“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans 12:1-2 (NIV)
The statistics are staggering. The Federal Reserve reported in October 2015 that America’s revolving debt was $923.4 billion and student loan debt is vastly approaching $1.2 trillion. The FDIC reports that 17 million Americans are unbanked (or without a bank account) and another 51 million are under-banked. People struggle to accumulate savings and many are searching for ways to prosper and experience financial independence.
A local church is taking a bold stand to help its congregation and members of the community take charge of their finances by transforming their minds with free seminar facilitated by the author of a book that has helped millions to achieve prosperity.
April is Financial Literacy Month and to celebrate, New Mount Olive Baptist Church presents “A Transformed Financial Mindset” featuring renowned speaker and bestselling author Dennis Kimbro, Ph.D., professor at Clark Atlanta University’s School of Business.
Kimbro is the author of several books such as Think and Grow Rich: A Black Choice, The Wealth Choice, What Makes the Great Great: Strategies for Extraordinary Achievement and Success Secrets of Black Millionaires. Kimbro will share his expertise on the keys to financial success and achievement.
This year the theme for New Mount Olive Baptist Church, under the pastoral care of Marcus D. Davidson, D. Min., is Year of Leadership: Living the Abundant Life in our Faith, Fitness, Family & Finances. The goal is to transform minds by creating a heightened awareness to the significance of financial literacy in the black community.
