Three Floridians who collectively spent decades as Republicans are part of a nationwide effort to convince GOP voters to cast ballots for Vice President Kamala Harris over former President Donald Trump.

On Sunday the Kamala Harris campaign announced former Republican state legislator Paula Dockery, Perfect Our Union founder Rich Logis, and Greg Wilson, former Reagan and H.W. Bush administration official and former Republican staff director in the House of Representatives, as Republican co-chairs of the Republicans for Harris campaign in Florida.

The announcement came as part of the launch of Republicans for Harris, a grassroots organizing coalition to further outreach efforts to the millions of Republican voters who continue to reject the chaos, division and violence of Donald Trump and his Project 2025 agenda.

As former Republicans – from elected officials to public servants to Trump supporters – the co-chairs are to play a pivotal role in facilitating Republican-toRepublican voter contact, including by hosting Republican-featured events, door knocking, phone banking, spearheading letter-to-the-editor campaigns, and building local networks with Republican organizations, businesses, and community groups.

“I am deeply troubled by the radical transformation of the Republican Party under Donald Trump’s authoritarian grip, a party I no longer recognize. I am proud to throw my full support behind Vice President Kamala Harris,” Dockery of Lakeland, who left the party and registered as a Democrat in 2016, said in a statement. “Kamala Harris embodies the leadership our nation desperately needs as we fight for the well-being of all Americans across this great country.”

“We have to ask ourselves,” Logis told WESH 2 Orlando, “is someone like Mr. Trump, who has intentionally divided, is that someone who we want leading the country? Is that someone we think can offer solutions to all of these everyday worries and concerns that most Americans have?”

Trump “has pitted complete strangers against each other,” Logis commented to WKCF in Orlando. “He has divided millions of Americans in their relationships, he has torn us under families, communities, places of worship.

“And I know that he has, because at one time for many years, I helped him divide.”

Miami WLRN radio reported that former White House press secretary and chief of staff to then First Lady Melania Trump, Stephanie Grisham, was launching Republicans for Harris organizing efforts with kickoff events Monday in Arizona, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.

“I might not agree with Vice President Kamala Harris on everything, but I know that she will fight for our freedom, protect our democracy, and represent America with honor and dignity on the world stage,” Grisham said in a statement.

Officials credited Harris’ campaign for “working overtime” to earn the support of fellow Republicans “who care about defending democracy and restoring decency, all of which would be torn away in a second Trump presidency.’” Arizona Republican Mayor John Giles said, “One of the biggest reasons I’m voting for Kamala Harris, and I would have voted for Joe Biden, is that they are not Donald Trump. So that hasn’t changed, but I am genuinely excited about Kamala Harris.”

“When you think about Republicans for Harris, she has been able to unite left, right and center,” Logis said. “And this is a moment in our history where unlikely but necessary alliances are required.”

Trump responding on social media with a call to purge the Republican Party of Harris supporters.
