In an effort to assist children of military families in Broward County, the United Way of Broward County’s MISSION UNITED distributed 370 backpacks filled with school supplies during a Veterans Family Expo at the Jean & David Colker Center in Fort Lauderdale. During the expo,veterans received additional information on local organizations that serve veterans and their families such as Consolidated Credit,Team RWB and Broward Youth Coalition. In addition, a local barber,Tony Marhefka, gave away free haircuts to the families. Kathleen Cannon, president and CEO of United Way of Broward County, Leland Liebe, MISSION UNITED senior director joined military veterans and their family members for the occasion.
