PEMBROKE PINES – In an effort to promote and expand awareness about HIV, Memorial Healthcare System recently joined Florida Career College-Pembroke Pines at its local campus to host a free community-wide HIV awareness event.

During the event, which was open to the public, Memorial Healthcare System licensed physicians, nursing students and Broward County-approved practitioners conducted complimentary HIV testing, general wellness examinations and blood pressure screenings; and informational sessions highlighted prevention, diagnosis and treatment of HIV and AIDS. Attendees from south Broward County had the opportunity to sign up to receive primary care clinic cards through Memorial Healthcare System.

“At Florida Career College, we continue to work together to educate, test and raise awareness about HIV within the community and contribute to nationwide efforts,” said Elizabeth Campbell, FCC-Pembroke Pines Director of Nursing. “We’re so thankful to have had the opportunity to partner with Memorial Healthcare System to host a very successful event and are excited to work with them again in the near future to organize similar events.”

FCC-Pembroke Pines, located at 7891 Pines Blvd., teaches practical and applicable skills through industry-current career training. The campus offers programs in healthcare-related fields including diploma programs in Limited Scope X-Ray Technician, Medical Assistant Technician, Medical Front Office and Billing, Patient Care Technician; and associate’s degrees in Health Services Administration and Nursing, among others.
