Lauderdala Lakes – Broward HealthPoint, in partnership with the City of Lauderdale Lakes has announced the launch of "Stay Healthy Together," a comprehensive community initiative designed to enhance access to preventative and primary care throughout Broward County.
The effort kicked off on Saturday, March 22, at Vincent Torres Park in Lauderdale Lakes, where local and state leaders, including State Rep. Lisa Dunkley, Lauderdale Lakes Mayor Veronica Edward Phillips and Lauderdale Lakes commissioners, joined various organizations to provide resources to the community.
Broward HealthPoint, an affiliate of Broward Health, provided an array of essential healthcare services, including workshops, preventative screenings and access to primary care. Attendees also enjoyed music, packaged meals, fun games for children, face painting and other engaging activities for families.
“With Stay Healthy Together, we’re meeting people where they are, right here in their own neighborhoods, making access to care easier and more convenient,” said Melida Akiti, corporate transformation executive at Broward Health.
“This is just the beginning; we are looking forward to partnering with other cities and organizations to bring healthcare directly into our communities.”
Broward HealthPoint is the medical safety net for Broward County residents residing in the northern twothirds of the county.
Over the next eight weeks, its mobile health units will be stationed at Vincent Torres Memorial Park three times a week.
The units will continue to visit once a week for the next two years, signifying a long-term investment in the health and wellbeing of the community.
As part of the initiative, the mobile health units also will travel to various cities across the county, bringing patient-centered primary care closer to home.
