Weston – Just in time for National Student-Athlete Day on April 6, 15-year-old student-athlete and fencing coach Oscar Campana, a sophomore in virtual school and a competitive fencer for the past 11 years, is working to make fencing more accessible to all. Oscar and his family are opening their own fencing club in Weston, Fla., giving children, teens, and adults the chance to train both their minds and bodies in what he calls "the sport that will change your life."

As a USA Fencing-certified assistant coach, Oscar helps train beginners alongside his father, Master Juan Campana. "One of my favorite things that fencing teaches is discipline," Oscar said. "Discipline is key in life – it carries over into everything you do."

Balancing online school, coaching, and training, Oscar also helps to run his family’s e-commerce business, operates an electronics repair service, and is a selfpublished author of three Spanish-language parenting books written from a kid’s perspective.
