NORTH LAUDERDALE — Charter Schools USA has appointed Andrea Ellis as the new principal of North Broward Academy of Excellence. She replaces Jackson Self who is moving to another Charter Schools USA-managed school. Ellis brings more than 18 years of experience as an administrator and educator and has been responsible for significant success and academic gains at her most recent position, as interim principal at McNicol Middle School in Hollywood.

She has experience in three different educational systems: Memphis City Public Schools, New York City Board of Education and Broward County Public Schools.

Ellis holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism and communication from the University of Memphis and two master’s degrees: education leadership at Mercy and ESOL and multicultural education from the College of Mount Saint Vincent.

“We are so pleased that Ms. Ellis has joined our team at North Broward Academy of Excellence,” said Billie Miller, vice president of education talent acquisition and development for Charter Schools USA. “Her varied experiences both within Broward County and beyond our state borders will help our students remain focused on success and achievement.”
