Lauderhill, Fla. – the Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County (HMHB/Broward) has earned significant financing through the largest Canadian-based generic drug manufacturing company.

Apotex Inc. (“Apotex”), announced the $242,000 in annual funding, totaling more than $726,000 over three years, through its Apotex Global Health Access Fund.

The grant will support The Mahogany Project, a critical health educational resource to support high-risk pregnant women in underserved communities throughout Broward County.

Through The Mahogany Project mothers learn how to monitor and improve their health. They also learn how to care for and maintain the health of their baby through parenting education.

The program is designed to enhance access to care, improve birth outcomes, and address the social determinants of health that disproportionately impact underserved communities.

Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Broward County (HMHB/Broward) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing infant mortality and improving maternal health through education, advocacy, and comprehensive support programs.

The organization provides essential services to high-risk pregnant women and families, ensuring they have access to the care, resources, and education necessary for a healthy pregnancy and birth.

“Thanks to APOTEX’s generosity, Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies is able to reach more families in Broward County to ensure a decrease in maternal and infant mortality,” said Dawn Liberta, executive director of HMHB/Broward.

“With this support, we can continue our mission of ensuring that every mother and baby has access to the healthcare resources they need for a healthy start. It will go a long way to sustain the zero infant mortality rate that we have enjoyed these past four years.” Learn more at hmhbbroward.org.
