NEW YORK (AP) — New York City police arrested a man for allegedly assaulting the woman who recorded Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling making racist comments.

Police say 40-year-old Dominick Diorio, of Old Bethpage, was arrested on charges of third-degree assault as a hate crime, assault, harassment and aggravated harassment. It wasn’t clear if he had a lawyer.

Police say V. Stiviano told detectives that she was assaulted by two men who may have made racial slurs outside the Gansevoort Hotel in Manhattan.

Stiviano is of black and Mexican descent. Stiviano’s audio recording of the Clippers owner led to his being banned from the NBA. Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has agreed to buy the Clippers for $2 billion.
