BLACK GIRL MAGIC: The Girl Power program is celebrating its 18th year of serving girls and helping them connect with their innate power. Girl Power is a place where girls between the ages of 11 and 17 can go to discover their inner magic. Serving girls from Liberty City, Overtown, Little Haiti, Brownsville, Allapattah, and nearby neighborhoods since 2000.
A fundraiser on June 9 will support one of the initiative’s signature programs. The networking and day party happens at Jezebel Bar and Kitchen on Miami Beach. Donations benefit the non-profit’s services, which include an after-school program, summer camp focusing on S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Sister Circle Mentoring program, post arrest diversion programs and the Girls Choir of Miami, pictured above with singer Maryel Epps.
