AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) _ A forum at the University of Maine at Augusta will focus on the challenges facing the state’s growing elderly population.
The event is being held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Jewett Auditorium.
Democratic House Speaker Mark Eves and Republican Sen. David Burns, who are working on aging issues in the Legislature, are expected to attend. Eves will discuss his effort to pass a $65 million bond to build more affordable housing for seniors in Maine. His proposal would also boost property tax credits for seniors and increase pay for in-home care workers.
UMA president Glenn Cummings will moderate the discussion.
