FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) _ The University of Alaska Fairbanks has returned a Mississippi flag to a campus display just days after the university removed it, citing an ongoing national discussion about Confederate imagery.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner (http://is.gd/afemnP) reports that Chancellor Brian Rogers decided to return the flag to the display because of comments he has received since he ordered the flag taken down Monday.

UAF spokeswoman Marmian Grimes says Rogers reviewed social media comments as well as other responses he received. Grimes has said there were no complaints about the flag that prompted its initial removal from the Circle of Flags display in the school’s lower campus.

The Mississippi flag, which includes a Confederate battle flag in its upper left corner, was taken down last week from a main street in Juneau.
