Fort Lauderdale – The Broward County Supervisor of Elections Office has announced the launch of the 2025 High School Voter Registration Drive (HSVRD), taking place April 1 – April 30.

In partnership with Broward County Public Schools, the annual initiative aims to educate students about the importance of civic engagement and register and preregister eligible high school students to vote.

Officials said this year’s goal is to register at least 10,000 students.

Throughout April, Broward County Elections staff will visit approximately 30 local high schools to assist students and staff in conducting voter registration drives.

All public high schools and eligible students in Broward County will have the opportunity to participate, with support from the Supervisor of Elections Office to facilitate on-site voter registration.

The high schools with the most registered students will be recognized and awarded by the Supervisor of Elections.

In 2024, more than 8,400 eligible students successfully registered or pre-registered to vote, as a result of the HSVRD.

Top participating schools included Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School (647 students registered), South Plantation High (555 students registered), and Northeast (254 students registered).

For more than 30 years, the High School Voter Registration Drive has helped empower the next generation of voters by registering thousands of young people across the county.

Florida law allows eligible students ages 16 and 17 to pre-register to vote.

Students who are 18 years old may register to vote if they are U.S. citizens and have no felony convictions or have had their rights restored.
