FORT LAUDERDALE — Holy Cross Hospital is holding an educational event for women from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 2 to raise awareness about the risk of heart disease.

The first 50 attendees to register will receive free comprehensive wellness screening packages. Others will have the option of having screenings at a deeply discounted price during the event at the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center, 1000 N.E. 56 St. in Fort Lauderdale.

Screenings will be available for stroke/carotid artery, peripheral arterial disease, abdominal aortic aneurysm and heart rhythm (atrial fibrillation).

According to the Centers for Disease Control, heart disease is the leading cause of death for women in the United States and almost two-thirds of the women who die suddenly of coronary heart disease had no previous symptoms.

Space is limited and those interested in attending must reserve a space by calling toll-free 1-866-636-4445 and specifying the June 2 event and its location (Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center).
