veronica_campbell-brown.jpgBEIJING _ Veronica Campbell-Brown won the Olympic women’s 200-meter dash on Thursday, completing a golden Jamaican sweep of the men’s and women’s short sprints, according to South Florida Times news partner NBC 6.


Campbell-Brown defended her gold medal from the Athens Games, winning the race with a personal best of 21.74 seconds.

American sprinter Allyson Felix, the silver medalist in Athens, was second to Campbell-Brown again in 21.93 seconds.

Jamaica also won the bronze medal as Kerron Stewart posted a time of 22 seconds flat, just .01 seconds ahead of Muna Lee of the United States. Stewart had already won the silver medal in the 100 meters.

Usain Bolt won the men’s 100 and 200 in world record times, kicking off a golden Jamaican sprint sweep at these Olympic Games.
