Florida Memorial University Trustee Charles George and wife Barbara hosted an intimate gathering of friends who were entertained by jazz pianist, Jonathan Pierre, an FMU sophomore. Guests were served food and drinks at the Georges’ home and FMU’s interim president, Jaffus Hardrick, welcomed everyone and asked the group to give generously.
“Anyone who says HBCUs aren’t relevant anymore is simply out of touch. We are relevant and serve an important purpose in our community and in the world,” said Dr. Hardrick.
The evening closed with Mrs. George sharing stories of her early years, when she attended summer camp at the Miami Gardens-based HBCU.
