MIAMI — The National Basketball Association announced that Miami Heat forward LeBron James and guard Dwyane Wade were named the NBA’s Eastern Conference Co-Players of the Month for December.

That marked the 10th and 11th time in franchise history that a Heat player  earned Player of the Month honors. It is Wade’s franchise-best sixth time and James’ first as a member of the home team.

The duo helped the Heat to a league-best 15-1 December record, while making history as Miami became the only team in NBA history to record 10 consecutive road victories during a single calendar month. The 15 wins and 10 road wins both set new Heat franchise records for a month.

Additionally, James and Wade became the first pair of Heat teammates to average at least 25 points in a month.

James averaged 25.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.13 steals while shooting 51.1 percent (144-of-282) from the field and 44.6 percent (29-of-65) from three-point range. He posted two triple-doubles and seven double-doubles while leading the team in assists a team-high 13 times, in scoring and minutes seven times each, in steals on five occasions, in rebounds four times and in blocks twice.

James recorded five 30-point games, eight 25-point games and 12 20-point games. He grabbed double-figure rebounds six times and dished out double-figure assists three times.

In his Dec. 2 return to Cleveland, where he had played for the Cavaliers, James scored a season-high 38 points, including a 24-point third quarter, tying the team franchise record for points in a quarter. He posted his first triple-double of the month on Dec. 17 at New York with a game-high 32 points, 11 rebounds and a game-high 10 assists. He then recorded his second triple-double of December in Los Angeles against the Lakers, recording game-highs in all three categories, 27 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists, for the last NBA Christmas Day triple-double in 40 years.

Wade averaged 27.9 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.67 steals while shooting 54.3 percent (151-of-278) from the field. He posted two double-doubles while leading the team in steals nine times, in scoring a team-high eight times, in minutes on six occasions, in rebounds five times, in blocks four times and in assists three times. He became only the fourth player since the 2000-01 season to average at least 27 points, six rebounds, four assists and shoot 54 percent from the field in a month. Wade finished the month  with two 40-point games, five 30-point games, 10 25-point games and 13 20-point games. He grabbed double-figure rebounds twice, including a game- and career-high 14 at Milwaukee on Dec. 6. He set a Heat franchise record for points in a second quarter with 20 vs. New Orleans on Dec. 13. He posted back-to-back 40-point games after scoring a game-high 40 points vs. New York on Dec. 28 and the next night in Houston on Dec. 29 he scored a game-high 45 points, marking it as only the third time in franchise history a Heat player has recorded consecutive 40-point games.
