North Miami, Fla. – The City of North Miami’s Youth Opportunity Board (YOB) is once again recruiting eligible students for placement in paid summer internships.
The 2017 YOB Internship Program will run from June 19 – Aug. 11. Funded through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and the City of North Miami, this annual program gives selected high school students an opportunity to work in various departments within their local municipal government.
The objective is to expose youth to a professional workplace, provide resume-building experiences and an early-career advantage. The YOB Internship Program has been active in the City of North Miami for nearly 30 years. YOB internships are available to all eligible youth, with a special focus on low-income youth. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled in high school, reside in North Miami and be at least 16 years old.
Applications are available on the NorthMiamiFL.gov homepage. All applications must be accompanied by a current resume and two reference letters.
Completed applications should be submitted to the City of North Miami’s Parks and Recreation Department by 4 p.m. on Friday, June 2. The Parks and Recreation Department is located at 12300 NE 8 Avenue in North Miami.
