The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center is accepting entries for its 2016 Black History Month Essay Competition. Interested students are encouraged to submit an original essay on this topic: “Describe a monument, historical site, event or notable individual in Florida that is associated with the American Civil Rights struggle. Describe its historical impact on the Civil Rights Movement.” The competition is open to students living in, or attending school in Broward County, in grades 4-12.
