As you prepare to immerse yourself into Soul Basel activities over the next several days, there are a couple of events that will allow you to engage your senses of sight, sound and taste.
Begin with a visual experience at Let the Mural Speak on Dec. 3. You’ll be able to view Addonis Parker’s Thunder & Enlightening mural and catch the unveiling of Lady Liberty, a trilogy painting of freedom and hope. Local spoken word artists will perform works based on the murals. The fun begins at 6:30 p.m. at OneUnited Bank, 3275 NW 79th St., Miami. Free, reservations requested. 305-576-3790.
Sunday will allow you to engage your taste buds while soothing your sense of sound at the Sunday Jazz Brunch where you can wrap up the weekend by grooving to the sounds of the Valerie Tyson Band at the monthly event with performances on three different stages. Known for her soulful renditions of R&B hits, Valerie Tyson is a local legend. Also scheduled to perform are the Gold Coast Jazz Society Band and Liz Sharp. Bring a blanket, chair and pack a picnic to enjoy the show. 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Esplanade Park, 400 SW Second St., Fort Lauderdale.
