NEW YORK (AP) _ The city’s Health Department says an undercover investigation finds it’s easy for underage buyers to get alcohol in city pharmacy, grocery and liquor stores.
The department on Sunday announced results from the investigation done by the state liquor authority between April and September last year.
Underage decoys went to 911 stories in the five boroughs, 10 percent of the city’s stores that have liquor licenses.
The decoys were able to buy alcohol in 58 percent of the stores.
The Health Department says a letter will be sent on Monday to all stores that sell alcohol reminding them to check IDs and to make sure employees are trained to avoid selling to underage buyers.
The department is also planning to sponsor trainings.
