rallyedisondade.jpgMIAMI (AP) _ Charges have been dropped against seven students for their role in a demonstration that got out of control at Miami Edison High School.

The students were charged as adults after the Feb. 28 lunchtime melee with police on campus. They had faced charges of resisting arrest with violence, starting a brawl and disrupting a school assembly.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office says it decided to drop the charges after reviewing arrest reports that showed almost identical charges and descriptions of what happened.

Nineteen juveniles have hearings this week.

The confrontation started during a student protest. Students said officers used unnecessary force to control them. School officials said the students threw chairs at officers.
