honeyshine_web.jpgMIAMI — It’s hat season again. The Honey Shine Mentoring Program’s 12th Annual “Hats Off” Luncheon was held Tuesday, May 6. Each year, founder Tracy Wilson-Mourning, its Lady Bug members, and friends, sport their favorite hats at the luncheon to raise the funds for Honey Shine programming, which provides at-risk young women with positive role models and influences through its enrichment programs, workshops, camps and sisterhood.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their favorite hat. More than 650 are expected to attend.

This year’s theme “Architects of Our Future: Imagine. Create. Achieve.”, kicks off with a welcome champagne reception and silent auction chock with designer and vintage handbags, vacation stays and jewelry.

Lunch starts at noon in the Treetop ballroom, followed by the “Honey Bug” fashion show. Young women from the program will be styled by the Melticuleaux Consulting Group and strut clothes provided by  Aventura Mall, Bloomingdales, Gap, Gap Kids, MIA Shoes and Peace Love World.

“What is so exciting about this year, and every year, is that we get to showcase our Honey Bugs,” said Mourning in a statement. “I have been to many luncheons in Miami and our Hats Off Luncheon for Honey Shine truly is all about our Honey Bugs. They are the ‘Architects of Our Future,’ so our theme is ‘Imagine. Create. Achieve.’ This is what we want them to do.”
