NASSAU, Bahamas – Bishop Neil C. Ellis formally submitted his resignation on Monday, Aug. 19 as the second presiding bishop of the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International (FGBCFI) and as a member of the FGBCFI Bishop’s Council.
Ellis also formally withdrew his membership from the FGBCFI, and that of his church, Mount Tabor Full Gospel Baptist Church in Nassau, Bahamas.
“As a follow-up to our conversation today,” said Ellis in his resignation letter to Bishop Paul S. Morton, the international presiding bishop of the FGBCFI in Atlanta, “I wish to express gratitude to you for allowing me to serve.”
Recounting his tenure, Ellis said, “What an awesome journey and a marvelous experience all of this has been. To God be the glory!”
The significance of the split in the fellowship will remain to be seen. Ellis said: “As I continue to accept the guidance of the Holy Spirit, I am satisfied, after much prayer and reflection that the Holy Spirit is now leading me to bring this season of my life in the fellowship to a close.”
