He is the leading advocate for marriage in the Hip Hop community. He’s been called “the relationship guru” by Chuck D. He is Jeff Carroll, better known as Yo Jeff, Hip Hop’s first dating coach, and he has announced the release of his first dating book, The Hip Hop Dating Guide. Published through his company Hip Hop Comix N Flix, it will be available for $15.
Yo Jeff, author, filmmaker and blogger, has spoken on male and female relations since he was in high school. He is a contributor to Real Health magazine and has written for Swerv magazine, America’s leader in black LGBT health issues, as well as college magazines and newspapers nationwide.
He wrote and produced the award-winning movie Gold Digger Killer and in 2005 his Hip Hop Dating Codes were endorsed by Hip Hop culturalist KRS-ONE. His workshop Stop the GAME is enjoyed by college students and many more people. He has been a guest on NBC 6 Miami, New York’s Hot 97 and Air America with respected Hip Hop intellectual Chuck D. He lives with his wife and son in South Florida.
The Hip Hop Dating Guide is the product of more than 25 years of research and firsthand experiences. Yo Jeff combines healthy dating ideas with the lively subculture of Hip Hop to show people how to address issues as varied as STDs and drama.
His book maps a breadcrumb trail to the happily ever after, he says, by presenting solutions to some of the most irritating problems: how to meet people; how to maximize one’s dating process; how to be a good dater; how to deal with the “dating predators” who seek to break hearts and spread disease; how to maximize one’s personal dating process and get the most from the dating experience.
Hip Hop is a great American creation, Yo Jeff says, and people will see just how great it is by learning its style of dating.
