MIAMI — Some homes in Coconut Grove Village West will get a little sprucing up this weekend as part of a community effort.

Nine homes will get their exterior painted and some landscape added through the Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida (NHSSF) annual Community Paint and Beautification Day.

In its 10th year, every spring, Neighborhood Housing Services of South Florida brings together NHSSF staff, corporate sponsors and members of the community to beautify homes in low and moderate income neighborhoods.

Volunteers will meet on Saturday, March 8, from 7:30 a.m.- 3 p.m., in the Coconut Grove Playhouse Parking Lot, located at 3500 Main Hwy., Miami.

“The painting and landscaping done through Community Paint and Beautification Day has a positive impact on the overall desirability of a neighborhood,” said Arden Shank, president & CEO of NHSSF. “This year we are proud to bring our service to Coconut Grove Village West and partner with Coconut Grove Collaborative.”

Over the past decade, the event has raised more than $150,000 in donations, involved more than 1,000 volunteers, and assisted more than 55 homeowners. Volunteers 14 years and older are welcome to participate, and will receive assignment training, meals and an event t-shirt.
