Edmonson and Jean Monestime presented a proclamation to Desiline Victor upon her arrival at Miami International Airport on Feb. 13, after Victor attended the State of the Union address in Washington, D.C. at the invitation of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michele Obama.

Victor, who is 102 years old, sat in the president’s box, and during his address was lauded for having stood on line for more than three hours to cast her ballot in the November 2012 election.

Victor, now a “celebrity,” was born in Haiti in 1910.  She arrived in the United States in 1989 and is a naturalized citizen.
