DENVER (AP) _ President Barack Obama is telling Congress to give him back his jobs bill. Lobbying for his economic agenda, Obama said Tuesday it has been two weeks since he sent lawmakers a $447 billion proposal that would cut payroll taxes and increase spending on school construction and other infrastructure work.
Speaking from a school in Denver, Obama says he wants to sign the jobs bill “so we can start putting people to work.''
Obama has proposed to cover the cost of his bill by requiring wealthy Americans and big corporations to pay more. Mainly, he would limit tax deductions that can be taken by wealthier families and individuals, an idea that has been opposed by Congress.
Obama was ending a three-day trip that featured seven Democratic fundraisers.
