hybrid-e-bus_web.jpgBroward County Transit announced it is adding a new route to its cross-county 95 Express Bus Service that will link Miramar to downtown Miami and make changes to current routes, effective Monday, Jan. 10.

Under the changes, the Pembroke Pines route that currently departs from C.B. Smith Park will no longer call at the Golden Glades Park and Ride stop. Also, the first four morning trips from the Miami Bus Terminal back to the park and the return trips will pick up passengers with no stops in between.
A Broward Transit statement said those changes are based on passenger requests for more direct service to downtown Miami, low ridership on the reverse trips and to add the Miramar route.

The Miramar service will start at the Miramar Central Station located at Miramar Town Center’s Civic Center Place on Red Road and travel along that street, on to the Florida’s Turnpike Extension and then Interstate 95, using the high occupancy lanes to downtown Miami.

Stops on this route will include Miami’s Civic Center business district, the Stephen P. Clark Government Center and Miami Bus Terminal. The return buses will depart from downtown Miami to Broward County, on a reverse route.

The first three morning trips from the downtown Miami Bus Terminal back to the Miramar Town Center and the return trip will pick up passengers with no stops in between.

The service will operate every 30 minutes from 6 to 8:30 a.m. weekdays, starting at the Miramar Town Center and from 3:40  to 6:15 p.m. from the Miami’s Northwest Eighth Street and First Avenue (the Overtown Metrorail Station).

Wi-Fi accessible, hybrid articulated buses will be used on the route.

Parking will be available in the second floor parking garage of the Miramar Central Station. It will be free to those with a 95 Express parking hangtag which can be obtained by calling South Florida Commuter Services at 1-800-234-RIDE or by logging on to www.1800234ride.com.

The fare for the Miramar and Pembroke Pines routes are $2.35 for a one-way trip. A 10-ride bus pass costs $23.50 and a 31-day pass costs $85 and are available for purchase online at www.broward.org/bct by clicking on PURCHASE BUS PASS and at the Miramar terminal and the Pembroke Pines/Walter C. Young and South Regional/Broward County branch libraries.
