Both have been invited to participate in four Senate debates, but they have only agreed to an Oct. 17 event organized by Leadership Florida and the Florida Press Association.

Mack's campaign said on Friday they've accepted a Fox News debate for Sept. 9. They previously accepted an invitation for a debate hosted by Gannett and a Tampa CBS affiliate.

Nelson's campaign says it plans to stick to the two debates it accepted. The other is proposed by CNN/Tampa Bay Times. Mack's campaign told the Times in June it would accept, if offered, an invitation to debate Nelson, then rejected a July invitation. The campaign has criticized the newspapers' campaign coverage.
