PAHOKEE – About 75 people attended the grand opening and ribbon cutting of several newly constructed homes at McClure Village, in Pahokee.
Developed by South Florida-based Housing Trust Group, an affordable housing developer for the Pahokee Housing Authority in Palm Beach County, McClure Village serves a critical need for very low-income housing in the Palm Beach County/Glades Region, especially for families.
A total of five units were added to the existing development, replacing units damaged due to hurricanes that occurred in 2004 and 2005. The five units consist of three 3 bedroom/2 bath units and two 2 bedroom/2 bath units with a construction value of about $1.4 million.
Funding for the project came from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
Attending the grand opening and ribbon cutting were Randy Rieger, chairman, Housing Trust Group; U.S. Congressman Alcee Hastings, Armando Fana, U.S. Housing and Urban Development; Ed Lowery, director, Palm Beach County Dept. of Economic Sustainability and Julia Hale, executive director, Pahokee Housing Authority.
