The Urban League of Greater Miami will celebrate its 67th anniversary Saturday, Oct. 30, with serious conversation, family activities and old friends reunited.
“We’re letting our friends and family know that we are celebrating,” said T. Willard Fair, president and CEO.
Fair is celebrating 47 years leading the organization and will be honored for his service as part of the anniversary events.
The festivities will include a community discussion on the "Next 100 years," as part of the National Urban League's centennial celebration. The event, slated for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., will take place at Covenant Palms, 8400 NW 24th Ave., adjacent to the Urban League offices.
An Urban League Family Day Celebration will take place from 2 to 6 p.m., at League headquarters, 8500 NW 25th Ave., featuring food, music and prizes from Hot 105, free health screenings, vendors, and opportunities to talk to service providers. For more information call 305-696-4450.
And the Miami-Dade Branch of the NAACP, headed by New Birth Basptist Church Bishop Victor T. Curry, will hold its Freedom Fund Celebration on the theme “One Nation – One Dream: Embracing Our Diversity.”
It will take place at 7 p.m. also Saturday at New Birth Enterprise, 8400 NE Second Ave. in Little Haiti.
