Miami Gardens residents took part in a Business Stimulus Grant workshop on Sept.7, hosted by Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust’s Economic Development Action Committee and the city.
Mayor Shirley Gibson supported the initiative intended as a catalyst to help stimulate growth and development that would allow 10 minority businesses to expand.
Under the initiative, businesses may apply for grants of $5,000 from the Trust to enhance their company’s growth, build inventory, buy equipment, do marketing or otherwise expand.
Businesses that get grants are required to receive technical assistance provided by the Miami-Dade Chamber of Commerce in the areas of information technology, legal assistance, marketing, and accounting.
Applications should be submitted by Sept. 22 to: The City of Miami Gardens, Office of Community Development, Building #4, Suite 190, 1515 NW 167th St., Miami Gardens, FL 33169. For more information, call John E. Dixon Jr. or William Simmons, 305-372-7600.
