Miami-Dade County Commissioner Audrey M. Edmonson, left, joined Miami-Dade County School Board Member Dorothy Bendross-Mindingall for the “No More Broken Hearts Workshop” held at the Joseph Caleb Center, 5400 NW 22nd Ave. in Miami’s Liberty City community on Sept. 25.
Bendross-Mindingall organized the session which was aimed at raising awareness of the effect of domestic violence on the development of children and on the community as a whole. According to a statement after the meeting, witnessing violence between one’s parents or caretakers is the strongest risk factor of transmitting violent behavior from one generation to the next.
