ATLANTA — Opa-locka Vice Mayor Joseph L. Kelley, attended the 2013 National Brownfields Conference on May 15 – 17 in Atlanta seeking resources to remediate city Brownfield sites such as Cuyahogo.
The conference, co-sponsored by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, convenes every 18 months and is the largest event in the nation focused on the assessment, cleanup, revitalization and economic redevelopment of contaminated properties.
Cuyahoga, in the 1700 block of Service Road and abutting a body of water, has potential for commercial or mixed development, along with Brownfield challenges.
Kelley said his vision is to assure that all city Brownfield sites are safe while creating beneficial development.
