music-note_web.jpgBROWARD — About 30 of the region’s best high school marching bands will show their talents in the Florida Bandmasters Association Performance Assessment.

On Saturday, Oct. 26, a different band will take to the field about every 15 minutes. Starting at noon at Coral Springs High School, 7201 W. Sample Rd., Coral Springs, the event will showcase the music, movement and pageantry of high school marching bands. Hosted by the Coral Springs High School Marching Colts, the assessments will continue until about 10:30 p.m., or until all the bands have performed.

There is no “winner” at this event. Florida Bandmasters Association has a rating system that evaluates the performing bands via five judges in four categories of music, marching and maneuvering, and overall presentation.  The ratings include:  Poor, Fair, Good, Excellent and Superior.

The public is welcome to attend. Advance tickets are $7 (available through high school marching band directors) or $10 at the gate.
