Dance visionary and Miami-Dade College / New World School of the Arts dance professor London founded the Peter London Global Dance Company, Inc. to establish a homegrown yet world-class contemporary dance organization that promotes South Florida’s vibrant arts heritage.

‘DREAM A REALITY’

“The Spring Dance Showcase realizes the mission of my company in a way that is bold, large, passionate and honors the diverse heritage of South Florida and America,” said London. “It is with the exceptional and disciplined hard work of the young dancers and choreographers that makes the dream a reality.”

This year, the audience will be treated to special guest performances by two soloists from the prestigious Martha Graham Dance Company. Lloyd Knight, lauded in Dance magazine’s coveted January 2010 “Top 25 Dancers to Watch” edition, and Mariya Dashkina Maddux, featured in Dance’s September 2012 “Dancer’s Choice” article, will perform the exquisite Graham duet Conversation of Lovers.

The program will also include a global premiere by PLGDC Artist Associate and South Floridian La Michael Leonard, principal dancer of New York City’s Bill T. Jones / Arnie Zane Dance Company.

3 NEW BALLETS

Three new ballets choreographed by Peter London will also grace the stage. They include Carmen, based on Bizet’s Opera of the same name and danced to fiery Flamenco music; The Secret, inspired by the Griot Music of Mali, North Africa; and Rain and Wings, inspired by Native American music created for the incomparable Sasha Caicedo Paolo, another PLGDC guest performer.
