Liberty City is ready for Easter, and events this weekend will celebrate the holiday with egg hunts and other activities.

The free “Liberty City Easter Scavenger Hunt” will take place on Saturday, April 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Victory Homes. It will feature face painting, games, a bounce house, liturgical dancing, Easter baskets, food and child-appropriate music by Roland Rush Entertainment.
“Liberty City Easter Scavenger Hunt is an opportunity for families to spend time together,” said Brandyss Howard of the Liberty City Trust, an event sponsor.

“We chose Victory Homes because it is a location in Liberty City that is often left out of the main events that usually take place in areas such as Liberty Square and Charles Hadley Park.”

Other sponsors include the Model City Neighborhood Enhancement Team, T.E. Elliot Enterprises, Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, Miami-Dade County Community Action Agency and the Liberty City Democratic Club.

Victory Homes is located at 520 NW 75th St. For more information call The Liberty City Trust at 305-635-2301, ext. 373.

Another Easter egg hunt will take place on Saturday, this one at the Church of the Open Door. The free event runs from 12:30-2 p.m., and will also include games and food.

At 9:30 a.m. Easter Sunday, the church will present “The Butterfly,” a holiday play by children ages three to 12, followed by traditional holiday services.

The Church of the Open Door is located at 6001 NW 8th Ave. For information call 305-759-0373 or 954-401-3614.
