MIRAMAR – The Miramar Cultural Center/ArtsPark is presenting a free screening of Bob Marley: The Making of a Legend on Thursday, June 27 at 8 p.m., hosted by Hot 105’s Tanto Irie of Reggae Runnins. Following the screening, actress, producer and filmmaker Esther Anderson will be joined by High Chief Nathaniel B. Styles Jr. for a Q&A about the film and the legendary music icon.

There is a limit of one voucher per person and each voucher is redeemable for four tickets, to be distributed at the box office, 2400 Civic Center Pl., Miramar, on the day of the screening beginning, at 5 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis. The film highlights lost footage from Marley’s early career in the 1970s and charts his rise to international stardom.Nesta Robert “Bob” Marley remains the most widely acclaimed, best-selling reggae artist.
He was the rhythm guitarist and lead singer for the ska, rocksteady and reggae bands The Wailers and Bob Marley & The Wailers until he died of cancer in Miami in 1981.
Marley received the Order of Merit from the Jamaican government and was awarded the Medal of Peace from the United Nations in 1980. His music reflects the social issues of his Jamaican homeland.
He has sold more than 75 million albums worldwide and is credited with helping to spread the Rastafarian movement as well as Jamaican music. Some of his best-known hits include I Shot the Sheriff, No Woman, No Cry, Jamming, Stir it Up and Redemption Song. The compilation album Legend, released posthumously, sold 25 million copies and is reggae’s best-selling album ever.
